TICKETS for the X Factor and The Voice are like gold dust – with desperate viewers scrambling to get them.
But thrifty music fans can get tickets for RTE's latest talent show The Hit for a mere €5.
Presented by Nicky Byrne and Aidan Power, the series aims to find the next Lennon and McCartney – searching for talented young songwriters to pen potential hits for mainstream bands.
The series is being filmed in the O2 and the show's producers will need to sell plenty of tickets if they are to fill all 23,000 seats.
With a live weekly show and plenty of show-stopping routines, The Hit is already being compared to RTE's successful talent show The Voice of Ireland. But producer Philip Kampf insists it's a very different TV programme.
"In the live show, the songwriters will discover if their song was selected once the musicians take to the stage, so there'll be loads of suspense and surprise live on air.
"Then the two recordings will go head-to-head. And both songs will be available to download. The following week, we will announce the winner – whichever got the most downloads. It's different to other TV shows because you're not just texting in – you're getting something for your vote," Philip said.
The tickets are available from Ticketmaster outlets.
