Three others killed on our roads

A 21-year-old man was killed in Dublin early today when a car left the road and hit a tree.

He was a passenger in the car when the single vehicle accident happened at Hartstown Road, Dublin 15, at 4.15am.

The driver, a 24-year-old man, was seriously injured and taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital.

The road was closed while garda forensic collision investigators examined the scene. Gardai asked anyone who was in the area at the time to contact them at Blanchardstown Station on 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111 or any station.

In Co Cavan, a man in his 50s was fatally injured when his tractor left the Cootehill-Mountain Lodge Road and overturned in an accident at 7.50pm yesterday.

He was taken to Cavan General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Gardai asked witnesses to contact Bailieboro Garda Station, on 042 9694570, the confidential line or any station.

A man in his 30s was killed when his motorbike was in collision with a car in Co Cork at 1.45pm yesterday.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The two occupants of the car were unhurt. The accident happened near Dripsey.

Gardai at Ballincollig are investigating.
