Three hurt as car and tram crash

three people who were taken to hospital after a collision between a car and a Luas tram in Dublin city centre have been discharged.

The tram driver, the motorist and a passenger, who were taken to the Mater Hospital after yesterday's incident, suffered minor injuries.

The accident took place when a car and a Red Luas tram collided at around 1.30pm, at the junction of Blackhall Place and Benburb Street. The roof of the car had to be removed so rescue workers could free the motorist trapped inside.

Gardai are investigating the cause of the incident. The scene was closed to traffic temporarily while the car was removed.

Luas Communications Manager Dervla Brobhy told the Herald that the Luas services between Tallaght and Blackhall on the line were only disrupted for a short period.
