They will play two shows - on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7, 2020.

The trio will also play at the SSE Arena Belfast on March 3, as well as heading overseas for shows across the UK and Europe.

Kicking off on February 20 in Liverpool, the band will play more than 20 shows overall, finishing up in Amsterdam toward the end of March.

The tour announcement comes as the trio gear up to release their sixth album - titled Sunsets & Full Moons - on November 8.

Giving fans a teaser on what they can expect from the record, the band say the new release is like a sequel to their self-titled debut album, The Script, which first flew up the charts more than a decade ago.

Both albums draw inspiration from difficult times faced by frontman Danny O'Donoghue.

He lost his father around the time of the release of their first album.

Ten years later, O'Donoghue sadly lost his mother while the band worked on the upcoming release.

At the time of her passing, the band shared an emotional tribute online.

They wrote: 'It deeply saddens us today to have to say RIP to Ailish O'Donoghue, you're forever in our thoughts and prayers.

'The greatest love story may look like it's come to an end, when in fact it's just beginning.

'Today she's back with her one true love Shay O'Donoghue, sitting at a piano watching over us all."

Both parents passed away on Valentine's Day.

O'Donoghue said the theme of the album is based on drawing hope from hard times.

"No matter how deep and dark it gets, it's going to be daylight again," he said.

"I think it's the most poignant record we've ever made.

"Our music was always about being together with the audience and writing about your own feelings and sharing them," he added.

Priced at €42.70, general sale tickets are expected to go on sale at 9.30am on Friday, October 18.

Fans who pre-order the album from the official online store by 5pm on October 15 will gain access to a pre-sale for tickets.
