The moment shotgun gang held up bank

THIS is the moment armed and masked raiders burst into a bank and threatened terrified customers.

The shocking footage was screened on RTE's Crimecall last night as gardai appealed for the public's assistance in capturing the raiders.

The two armed criminals entered the bank in Glanmire, Co Cork, brandishing a shotgun and sledgehammer before demanding cash.

One raider stayed at the front door armed with a sawn-off shotgun and held the doors open for a getaway, while the other raider went into the bank with a sledgehammer and threatening the staff and security.

The two men entered the premises while a cash-in-transit delivery was being made to the premises on August 5 last.

Security staff bravely challenged the two raiders who fled from the premises empty-handed in a blue Ford Mondeo, which had been stolen from Co Meath in March.

In a separate incident, gardai have appealed for the public's assistance in capturing two raiders who robbed a jewellers in Clonmel, Co Tipperary, with one man pointing a gun at staff. The other man cleared the shelves of the shop before both of them fled.
