WHEN it comes to births, Dublin is baby booming.
New figures released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) have revealed Fingal recorded the highest number of newborns in the period from July to September last year.
The region recorded a birth rate of 20.2 per 1,000 head of population.
At the other end of the scale was Cork city, which recorded the lowest birth rate at 11.7 per 1,000.
The highest percentage of births outside of marriage occurred in Limerick city at around 50pc, while the lowest percentage was in Co Galway at almost 22pc.
MEANWHILE, 6,983 DEATHS WERE REGISTERED IN THE THIRD QUARTER OF 2013, AN INCREASE OF 2.3PC IN THE NUMBER OF DEATHS REGISTERED IN THE THIRD QUARTER OF 2012.
There was a total of 7,760 marriages in the third quarter of 2013, only five fewer than the corresponding quarter of 2012.
