Tesco to cut its prices

SUPERMARKET giant Tesco is to cut prices on more than 1,000 every day essential items by an average of 12pc.

The €35m initiative will benefit customers purchasing essential grocery items such as tea, soup, fresh vegetables and toiletries in all of the group's 130 stores nationwide.

Tesco said that it made the move after recent figures from the CSO revealed that the annual inflation rate is running at 2.2pc. "This is the next step on Tesco's part to drive value for shoppers," said Kenny Jacobs of Tesco Ireland.
