Ten more held in flag protest

Ten people have been arrested over union flag protests in the past month, the PSNI has revealed.

It said 239 people had been detained since December when the row over flying the union flag at Belfast City Hall first erupted.

Of those, 182 have been charged with public order offences.

At the height of the crisis protesters clashed with police during rioting in Belfast, Carrickfergus and Newtownabbey, in Co Antrim.

Shopping blast kills two teens

A shopping centre explosion in the home country of the Boston marathon bombers has killed two people.

The blast came in a busy area of Makhachkala, capital city of the Russian republic of Dagestan, and several other people were injured.

The bomb went off when two teenage boys tried to open a cardboard box left near a store and both were killed.

is executed

A US man convicted of killing a six-month-old girl while raping her has been executed.

Steve Smith was executed by lethal injection at the Ohio state prison after his pleas for mercy were denied.

The 46-year-old was convicted of aggravated murder in the September 1998 killing of his live-in girlfriend's daughter, Autumn Carter.
