Temple Bar Trad Fest will be great fun

I'm doing three gigs for the Front Row Sessions at TradFest in Temple Bar next weekend.

I'll be playing Buskers Bar on Thursday, The Norsemen on Friday and the Temple Bar on Sunday.

All the gigs are free and I'm really looking forward to it because it'll be small, intimate crowds in the pubs that I'm playing in.

Other artists playing at the festival are Eleanor McEvoy, Mundy, Damien Dempsey, The Dublin Legends, The Undertones, The Hot House Flowers, Louise Mulcahy and Niamh Dunne (pictured left).

There's so many gigs on that there'll be something for everyone and there'll be a great atmosphere about town.

VISIT

I've got some Spanish friends, who are also musicians, over to visit at the moment.

They usually come over here at Christmas and do a few gigs with me and then I go over to Spain and play concerts with them over there.

They're called Escuchando Elefantes and they're pretty big in Spain on the folk circuit, kind of like me here I suppose.

The next gig they have in Ireland is they're supporting Cathy Davey at the Winter Music Festival in Cork next Saturday and then they'll come up to Dublin for the last day of the festival.

Go to Tommy for a laugh

Tommy Tiernan has been a comedian for 20 years and his new stand-up show Out of the whirlwind doesn't hold back.

His new show is running at Vicar Street until January 31 with more dates scheduled for February and June.

Great play at the Project

Following its hugely successful sell-out run at the Dublin Theatre Festival, A Girl is a Half-formed Thing by Eimear McBride will return for a limited run at the Project Arts Centre in Temple Bar from February 4 to 14.

The production will then travel to The Mac, Belfast, before returning to the The Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray on February 27 and 28.

Aoife Duffin's performance is one not to be missed.
