Telecom firm's award

A BUSINESS that began life in a bedroom with a single phone line and now turns over in excess of €1.4m has been named the overall winner at the National Enterprise Awards 2012 in Dublin.

Wexford-based Innovate Business Technologies was established in 2005 and has developed the ground-breaking telecoms product VoiceGrid. The company also has strong Cloud solutions coming on stream.

Innovate's MD, Jim Hughes, comes from a farming background where money was tight, which is one factor that motivates him to maintain a solid cash-flow base.

He left a senior role in IT management to set up the company, which now employs nine people in Gorey, Co Wexford.
