Teen who hit garda misses court again

SENTENCING of a youth, who punched a female garda as she was trying to cordon off the site of a suspected explosive device, has been adjourned again.

The 17-year-old boy had pleaded guilty last year to assaulting the garda and criminal damage to a patrol car, at Clonmacnoise Road, in Crumlin, Dublin, on July 3 2009, when the scene was being sealed off as a result of what later transpired to be a hoax device.

His case at the Dublin Children's Court had been adjourned for a pre-sentence probation report to be furnished.

However, for a second time this month he was not produced to the court. Judge Clare Leonard heard that the teen had been remanded in custody and refused bail on other charges.

She adjourned the case until February 16 next.
