Teen hurled object into jail

A YOUTH who was caught throwing an object into the grounds of Mountjoy Prison from the roof of a nearby house has been spared a criminal conviction.

Garda Ciaran O'Brien told Judge Catherine Staines at the Children's Court that the then 17-year-old "threw something over the wall into the prison".

The youth, now 18, pleaded guilty to trespassing at Phibsborough, Dublin, on April 6. The judge applied the Probation Offenders' Act.
