Teen guilty of garda assault

A 17-year-old boy has been found guilty of attacking a garda who caught him drinking beer in a public park on the evening of last year's Junior Certificate results.

The officer was set on by a mob of youths as he ended up in a struggle with the boy, Dublin Children's Court was told.

The teen was found guilty yesterday of assaulting Garda Stephen Broderick and breach of the peace, at a park in Ballyfermot, Dublin, on September 15 last. The garda suffered a bloody nose.

The boy denied the charges.
