Teen charged with murder of his mother in their home

A TEENAGER has been charged with the murder of his mother whose body was found in the bedroom of her home.

Patrick Dunne was brought before Killarney District Court this morning.

Mr Dunne (19) of Ballingeragh, Lixnaw, Co Kerry was charged with the murder of Susan Dunne at Ballinageragh, Lixnaw on or about November 27 last. Det Sgt John Glesson said he arrested the accused at Listowel Garda Station at 8.24pm last night and charged and cautioned him at 9.09pm.


The suspect made no reply to the charge.

Wearing a green jumper and grey shirt over dark trousers, Mr Dunne was brought to court by gardai and sat next to a female officer during the short hearing.

Judge Olan Kelleher remanded him in custody to St Patrick's Institution to appear again before Listowel District Court on Wednesday.

Solicitor Patrick Enright put the court on notice he would be making an application for bail.

He also asked the court that Mr Dunne receive any medical attention he requires saying he had been in the "special needs system" for a number of years.

The accused man's father, Bill Dunne, was in court for the hearing as were members of Kerry Autism Action.
