Teen accused of party attack with poles

A DUBLIN youth is facing trial over an incident where a masked gang allegedly armed with sharpened poles gate-crashed a birthday party and attacked revellers.

The teenager has been charged at the Children's Court with violent disorder at Harold's Cross in Dublin in November last year.

The court heard it would be alleged there had been a garden party for a young woman celebrating her 18th birthday. Several people are alleged to have broken in through a side door armed with sharpened poles.

The woman suffered bruising and one male sustained a chipped tooth.

Judge Patrick Clyne sent the teen for trial to the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
