Taxi hijacker gets six years

A MAN who hijacked a taxi with an imitation firearm and forced the cab driver to tour around a city for two hours with the gun pointed at him has been jailed for six years.

The taxi driver said he was 100pc certain he was going to be murdered by Mark Ryan (25) of Lenihan Avenue, Prospect, Limerick during the ordeal in Limerick city earlier this year.

Ryan was also sentenced to slashing a man in the face and stabbing him in the chest and arms outside his home. He pleaded guilty to the offences at Limerick Circuit Criminal Court yesterday.
