Takeaway owner hits jackpot

A TAKEAWAY owner has become Ireland's newest millionaire -- and is looking forward to hanging up her hair net to buy some horses.

Giustina Macari celebrated with family and friends in her chipper, after she scooped half of the massive National Lottery €11.5m jackpot on Saturday.

After scooping the whopping €5.7m Lotto prize, she hopes to become a horse owner now that she can retire from making burgers and batter sausages.

"I absolutely love horses, so I will definitely use the money to pursue my passion, but I just haven't come down off the clouds enough yet to think about what else I might do. I am still processing it," she admitted.

Giustina (32), who is part of the well-known Macari restaurant family, bought her €10 ticket in Malone's newsagent in Kildare.

Giustina, who is believed to be a cousin of socialite and reality TV star Virginia (35), also admitted that she could not believe her luck when her numbers rolled out and thought it was an April's Fool joke.
