Swedish superstar Avicii to rock Marlay Park

MARLAY Park has lined up its first major dance act of the summer.

Wake Me Up was the song of the summer last year - and the most Shazammed track of all time.

Now Avicii will rock out at the Rathfarnham park this summer as the Swedish DJ has announced an open-air show at Marlay Park on Friday July 3, 2015.

Demand

Avicii is one of the most in-demand artists on the planet - his last Irish appearance at Belsonic, Belfast completley sold out.

When gaelscoil Colaiste Lurgan in Connemara paid tribute to the Wake Me Up hit with their own music video, it went viral and won the praise of the top DJ himself.

Avicii gave his stamp of approval to the video and tweeted: "This one's so cool! Can't understand a word but I love it!"

The superstar, who picked up the gong for Best Electronic Act at MTV European Music Awards, will be supported by UK band Rudimental with more acts to be announced.

Just last week it was confirmed that Avicii's hit single Wake Me Up was the most Shazammed track of all time - fans use the Shazam app to identify any music track playing at the touch of a button.

Tickets for the gig, which is subject to licence, go on sale this Thursday at 9am and are priced at €49.65 inclusive of booking fee. Tickets are limited to eight per person and entrance is strictly over 18s.
