Surge in demand for 'cat poop' coffee

A DUBLIN-BASED coffee company said there is a surge in consumer demand for an exotic drink made from "cat poop".

Java Republic Roasting Company and Cafe said it has seen a unprecedented demand for Kopi Luwak -- which has a retail price of €68.49 per 250g.

Kopi Luwak is a green coffee made from beans that have gone through the digestive system of a wild Indonesian cat.

The Ballycoolin based company has reported that a number of its customers purchase the drink as a wedding present.
