Student's wolf video goes viral

A student's campaign video – a parody of the Oscar-nominated Wolf of Wall Street film – for president of his student union has gone viral, reaching more than 135,000 hits in the space of a few days.

And the stunt seems to have paid off, as Tommy Bolger, a 22-year-old University of Limerick (UL) student, was elected after more than 4,000 students turned out to vote on Thursday.

Tommy created a comical three-minute sketch re-enacting the infamous life of New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort, as played by Leonardo DiCaprio, for his campaign.

In the video,he offers bribes to officials, snorts sherbet powder – mimicking the cocaine-fuelled life of the broker – and re-enacts the chest-thumping scene of Matthew McConaughey in the Martin Scorsese smash hit film.
