Strictly star in domestic violence campaign

Strictly Come Dancing star Janette Manrara has been named as an
ambassador for a new campaign against domestic violence.

The dancer is backing Love Doesn't Hurt, run by the not-for-profit
organisation Domestic Violence UK.

Figures show one-in -four women and one-in-six men are victims of domestic abuse. On average, two women a week are killed by their current or former partners.

Love Doesn't Hurt aims to provide help and support for people affected by abuse.

Janette said: "I am delighted to be able to join with this wonderful organisation and help raise awareness on the issues of domestic and emotional abuse.

"My hope is that people will join me in supporting Domestic Violence UK, either through social media and awareness campaigns to reach out and provide information and support to those who need it by signposting them to specialist support organisations."

Domestic Violence UK's ambassadors include
Telecom Plus chief executive Andrew Lindsay and radio presenter Jenni Steele.
