Stars come out to join battle of the sea wall

ACTOR Niall Toibin has pleaded with Dublin City Council not to construct a "Berlin Wall" at Clontarf.

The battle for Clontarf has stepped up a notch as the actor joined protesters campaigning against the proposed flood defence wall on the north coast of the city.

The actor joined fellow thespian Don Wycherly, Ireland rugby international Cian Healy, Miss Ireland Holly Carpenter and comedian PJ Gallagher to mark their opposition to the controversial plan.

The organisers want local councillors to vote against the plan on December 6.

The council originally planned to build a wall to a height of over 9ft along the promenade, but reduced it following objections.

Clontarf locals say the wall it will destroy seaviews in the picturesque village.
