Sports stars honour tragic Michaela

A fundraiser featuring Ireland's sporting giants Brian O'Driscoll, Martin O'Neill and Paul McGinley is being held in honour of Michaela McAreavey (inset).

Rugby hero and freeman of Dublin city BOD will also join up with Kilkenny hurler Henry Shefflin on the night. Members of the audience will have the opportunity to grill the stars on their sporting lives.

The line-up will also include Michaela's father Mickey Harte, manager of the Tyrone football team. Tragic Michaela (27) was murdered while on honeymoon with her husband John McAreavey (33) in Mauritius in 2011. The murder remains unsolved after two suspects brought to trial were acquitted.

The Michaela Foundation runs summer camps for girls aged 11 to 13 to promote sport, personal development and the Irish language.

The stars will team up for the fundraiser in Carton House Hotel in Co Kildare on Thursday, May 1. Tickets are available through themichaelafoundation.com
