SUPERMARKET giant Tesco Ireland is the new sponsor of Coronation Street.

TV3 has announced a major six-figure partnership deal with Tesco Ireland for the sponsorship of the popular soap.

The multi-platform deal, which will come into place from Monday, includes broadcast sponsorship of Coronation Street, digital sponsorship across tv3.ie and 3player, and major activation elements on-air and online.

Steven Arnold, who played one of Coronation Street's much loved characters Ashley Peacock (above with Mary Byrne), was in Tesco Ballyfermot for the launch.

Coronation Street is consistently one of the most popular programmes on TV3. Every week, over 1.2m people watch the soap, with the peak time show commanding audience shares of 30pc of adults and 32pc of housekeepers.

The soap continues to be a massive success for the Irish station and the sponsorship stings will include Tesco grocery, Tesco mobile, Tesco banking and Tesco.ie.
