Spain's richest face bill

SPAIN will introduce a tax for its richest citizens aimed at reducing the country's budget gap.

Finance Minister Elena Salgado said that the tax will be applied to people with net assets of more than €700,000 in 2011 and 2012. The temporary measure will be approved at the government's weekly cabinet meeting today and the finance ministry estimates the measure will affect around 160,000 taxpayers.
