Sons carry coffin after children pen poignant letters to Dad

Gerry's sons Rex (20) and Elliott (14) carried his coffin into the church today, assisted by his two brothers Mike and Vincent (Manno), David Blake-Knox and Michael O'Connor.

Gerry's daughters Babette and Bonnie and son Elliott and his godchild Lucas read the prayers of the faithful to the packed church.

The eulogies were given by his brother Manno and his two eldest children, Lottie and Rex.

Gerry's five heartbroken children have written letters for their father, telling him how much they love him.

Lottie (24), Rex, Bonnie (17), Elliott and Babette (10) have all put their feelings on paper to say how much they miss the dedicated family man.

"The children all sat down and discussed a way of paying tribute to their dad," a source close to the family revealed.

"They decided to write him letters to say how they really felt. They are going to place them in the coffin as a final parting gift. It's very touching."

The children were comforted outside their home in Clontarf yesterday.

His youngest daughter Babette clutched on to a friend from school who called over to offer her condolences, as she choked back tears.
