Slain Wilson's mother faces attack charge

THE mother of slain gangster John Wilson has been charged with attacking an 80-year-old woman. Kathleen Wilson appeared in court accused of assaulting the mother of the man suspected of killing her son.

Dad-of-two John Wilson (35) was shot dead at his Dublin home minutes after he had collected his daughter from school last month.

Keith O'Neill (37) has since been charged with his murder.

Kathleen Wilson – aged in her late 40s – allegedly broke into the O'Neill family home in Ballyfermot on Sunday and confronted Margaret O'Neill (80) who was in the kitchen preparing a meal at the time.

It is alleged that at around noon on Sunday, John Wilson's mother Kathleen broke into O'Neill's family home at Ramillies Road, Ballyfermot, and confronted his elderly mother, Margaret O'Neill, who is in her 80s.

Mrs O'Neill was later brought to hospital while Kathleen Wilson was arrested by gardai.

Ms Wilson was brought before a special sitting of Dublin District Court yesterday where she was given bail after being charged with burglary and assault.

She was also charged with criminal damage.

Kathleen Wilson was remanded on bail and will appear again before the district court in the coming weeks.

Her bail conditions stipulate that she stays away from Mrs O' Neill, her family and the woman's address at Ramillies Road, Ballyfermot.

Keith O'Neill was charged with John Wilson's murder at Cloverhill District Court earlier this month.

When the charge was put to him, he responded: "Yous (sic) have the wrong man."

John Wilson had a long history of involvement in organised crime and had previously been convicted of weapons offences.

He was arrested by gardai in connection with a triple shooting in the Player's Lounge pub in Fairview in 2010 which left three innocent men seriously injured.

In April last year Wilson was shot in one of his legs, and gardai believe that previously a gunman called off a hit when Wilson's wife opened the door of their home.
