Sinead's got a brand new look for her video

SINEAD O'Connor's new music video has been unveiled ahead of the release of her new single Take me to Church, with the iconic singer has wowing fans with her radically different look.

The song is the first offering of her upcoming album I'm Not Bossy I'm The Boss, but the video features a nod to one of her previous hits.

Its opening segment echoes O'Connor's classic breakthrough single Nothing Compares to You as she sings directly to the camera in front of a black background.

Images of the video of star's 1990 released classic are projected over her face as O'Connor sings emphatically "What have I been writing love songs for? I don't want to write them anymore."

Although the title shares its name with another recent Irish hit, Hozier's Take Me to Church, the two could not be more different.

The 47-year-old is almost unrecognisable in parts of the video as she dons a red wig and matching PVC dress for a femme fatale look.

At one point she rips off the wig to reveal her trademark shaved head.

I'm Not Bossy, I'm The Boss is due out on August 8 and is the follow-up to Sinéad's critically-acclaimed album, 2011's How About I Be Me (And You Be You)?
