Sile's saddling up for US cycle fundraiser

SHE completed two half marathons last year, and now Sile Seoige is going to pedal 600km through California for charity.

The gaelgoir will get kitted out in lycra to cycle with an Irish team for the 2014 Tour de Force.

More than 60 people will fly to the US in October to take part in the annual event in aid of three charities -
LauraLynn, Headway and Age Action.

Sile told the Herald she is nervous but excited about the looming challenge.

"Growing up, bikes and I were just not compatible. It's a great cause, though, and I thought I should do it. I hadn't been on a bike in years, but over the next two months I'll be hard at it."

Among the well-known faces at the launch of the event in Dublin hotspot House last night were Keith and Lisa Duffy, celebrity photographer Barry McCall and trainer Paul Byrne.

Voice of Ireland coach Bressie was with model girlfriend Roz Purcell, while RTE's Kathryn Thomas was accompanied by beau Padraig McLoughlin.

Tour de Force chairman Liam Horgan said they hope to raise €100,000.
