Sile wheels into 'Frisco for charity

Broadcaster Sile Seoige has gone to great heights for charity as she has cycled across the Golden Gate Bridge on the Tour de Force Charity Cycle.

The fundraising event is made of up of members of the Garda Siochana and their friends who do an annual cycle to raise money for Irish and international charities. This year's charities are the Laura Lynn children's hospice, Headway and Age Action Ireland.

Sile has been over in the States for the past five days where the group - which includes photographer Barry McCall and trainer Paul Byrne - have been cycling over 120km per day.

"It's a big challenge for me because before I started training I hadn't been on a bike since I was a child and now I'm cycling more than 120km every day," Sile told the Herald.

Before heading off, Sile spoke of how excited she was to cycle over the Golden Gate Bridge and now she has the pictures that show her leading the group over the 2.7km stretch (left).

"San Francisco is one of my favourite cities and I never thought I'd get the opportunity to be cycling through it," she said.

"I'm sure we're going to see some spectacular sights as we cycle down the California coast as well. It's going to be a trip of a lifetime and it's made even better because it's all for incredible charities."
