Shoplifter concealed goods in child’s hat

A SHOPLIFTER who hid stolen cosmetics in a child’s hat has been given a one-month suspended sentence.

Regina Philipo (34) put €88 worth of goods into the hat and left the pharmacy without paying.

Judge David McHugh suspended the sentence for a year at Blanchardstown District Court.

Ms Philipo, with an address at Liffey Glen, Liffey Valley Park, Lucan, pleaded guilty to stealing the cosmetics at Boots, Liffey Valley on February 13 last.

The court heard she went to the store at 12.50pm and passed all points of payment with the goods. She was stopped outside by security staff and the property was recovered.

Her child was aged two years.

The court heard she had two previous convictions.
