Shirtless man hurled abuse at officers

A MAN who shouted abuse at gardai in the street while drunk and shirtless was mourning his father who had died weeks earlier, a court heard.

William Moore (26) was told to make a €50 charity donation to avoid public order convictions at Blanchardstown District Court.

Moore, of The Vale, Woodfarm Acres, Palmerstown, pleaded guilty to public intoxication and causing a breach of the peace at Monastery Road, Clondalkin, last October 18.

Judge David McHugh was told the defendant was arrested when he refused to calm down after gardai found him in a row with another man.

He had been out with relatives shortly after the death of his father and "became embroiled" in a situation he should have walked away from, his lawyer said.
