ALAN Shatter has survived a vote of no confidence, despite being criticised by some party colleagues for using confidential garda information against TD Mick Wallace.
The scandal-hit Justice Minister came under attack during a two-day debate on a Fianna Fail motion calling for his resignation.
Mr Shatter sparked outrage after he revealed that Mr Wallace escaped penalty points after being caught driving while on a mobile phone.
And he came under even more pressure to quit after it emerged that he failed to complete a mandatory breath test in Dublin a number of years ago, saying that he was asthmatic.
But despite being accused of 'betraying' the seal of his office, the Government's huge majority ensured his survival.
