HIS old Westlife bandmates are becoming reality TV regulars.
Nicky Byrne was on Strictly Come Dancing and Voice of Ireland judge Kian Egan is tipped to appear on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! But Louis Walsh has said Shane Filan will not try to boost his career with a stint on reality TV.
"No, no," he added. "No dancing shows, no reality shows. He's a singer. I want him to sell records everywhere."
Boyband members and reality shows are a match made in heaven. Who could forget Blue's Lee Ryan cooking up a storm on Come Dine With Me or The Wanted's unimaginatively named series The Wanted Life.
While eating bugs in the Australian outback or shimmying around a dance floor in Spandex may not be up Shane's street, Louis said Kian would make an ideal I'm A Celebrity contestant.
"Kian (would) do really well. He loves surfing – we will absolutely watch," he revealed.
And Shane claimed Kian would throw himself into the infamous Bushtucker Trials. "He always said he'd love to do it," he said. "He always said to us in the band 'I would love to be out there swimming with the rats'.
"He would love the challenge of it. He will be jumping out of a helicopter so he will definitely like that. It's funny, it's something I wouldn't like to do. The thought of swimming with rats is just not me. It's a great show and I'm looking forward to seeing Kian on it."
Louis also said Shane, who is promoting his new album, was one of the most talented musicians that he had worked with.
"He has the best voice I have worked with. I love his album. It's called You and Me. It's No 1 in Ireland and the Philippines and Indonesia. It's not like Westlife. It's contemporary pop."
Shane has often called Louis a father figure and the X Factor judge confirmed they were close."We are genuinely good pals," he said. "We fight occasionally but in a good way."
