Sex trial jury discharged

A JURY in the trial of a man accused of having sex with a 16-year-old girl has been discharged after failing to reach a verdict.

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had pleaded not guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to unlawful carnal knowledge of the girl at a location in the city on October 23, 2003.

Judge Patrick McCartan thanked the jury for their service and listed the case for mention on a date next month.

Boyle is most offensive comic

Comedians have named Frankie Boyle the nation's most offensive stand-up.

Boyle, who has caused a storm with jokes about Katie Price's disabled son Harvey on his Channel 4 sketch show, came top in a study carried out with over 100 stand-up comedians.

The Scottish star of TV series Tramadol Nights was followed by US-born comic and magician Jerry Sadowitz, Jim Davidson and Roy Chubby Brown in the list.
