Schoolgirl's death being treated as murder

THE DEATH of this little five year old schoolgirl was today being treated as murder.

It's now emerged that beautiful Mari Connolly perished in a fire after her home was mistakenly targeted over a personal grudge.

A notorious gangster is the main suspect for the arson attack which resulted in the junior infant's homicide. Tragic Mari perished in the inferno in the early hours of Monday at her father Richard's house in Boyle, Co. Roscommon.

The young girl's mum had just given birth to twin daughters.

Hero dad Richard Connolly was still being treated today for severe spinal injuries in Dublin's Mater Hospital after he saved the lives of his other daughters Lauren, aged eight and Naomi, aged six.

A manhunt is now underway for the suspected arsonist -- also the chief suspect in the gangland murder of Sam Smith (23) in December 2005.
