Sarah Jane's a real gem in new collection

Miss Ireland finalist Sarah Jane Dunne was in sparkling form over the weekend as she helped unveil a new Irish jewellery range.

The head-turning brunette (24) made history after becoming the first Traveller to represent her county in the beauty pageant.

And Sarah, who is originally from Clare but is now living in Kilkenny, is tipped to have a big future ahead of her in the modelling industry.

The daughter of the late musician Pecker Dunne is a qualified secondary teacher of English and Religion - but is clearly a dab hand when it comes to posing for the cameras.

This was one of her first big modelling jobs since appearing in the pageant as she helped launch Seoidin's jewellery range for its Autumn/Winter collection in Leeson Street.

The model, who is not yet signed to an agency, joined forces with fellow Miss Ireland finalist Aoife McGraine for the photocall as they showed off the latest creations from the Irish company owned by Maureen Harrison.

Sarah Jane has spoken previously about how she has never experienced discrimination for her background

"It comes up in conversation sometimes, but I think it's a positive thing for most people to see someone put on a platform who would normally be associated with a particular, stereotypical image," she said.

A graduate from Trinity College Dublin, she previously won TCD's pageant and also took part in 2fm's Miss Personality competition.

Speaking about being a member of the Travelling community, she said she's "very happy" with being on a platform now where she's seen as a positive role model.

"Being a Traveller is a very big part of my life," she said. "My dad was very proud of it and he always made sure that I was very proud of it."
