THE Irish division of Tesco saw sales drop by 0.3pc.
Tesco's total European third quarter sales fell by 3.6pc, on a year-on-year basis.
The British supermarket giant reported a mixed third quarter performance covering the three months to the end of November with like-for- like group sales up by 2.4pc, but down by 0.6pc in its core UK business.
The company has a recovery plan in operation but still noted disappointing returns from some elements.
Tesco has also dropped hints that it is considering pulling out of the US where it employs 5,000 staff over 200 stores trading under the Fresh & Easy brand.
