Ryanair's new routes to Knock will bring 100 Mayo jobs

BUDGET airline Ryanair anticipates that opening an additional four routes out of Ireland West Airport in Knock will create around 100 jobs in Co Mayo.

And its expected that around 100,000 passengers will be carried each year between the Mayo airport and Barcelona (Girona), Frankfurt (Hahn), Milan (Bergamo) and Paris (Beauvais).

Chief executive Michael O'Leary says it will connect the west of Ireland to four major markets.

"While people from the UK want to go to Dublin, continental Europeans want to go to rural Ireland, down where the boggers are," Mr O'Leary added.
