Russians see goalie Shay as big-match bogey man

"We have to beat Shay" is the challenge today to the Russian players from Moscow sports daily Sovietski Sport.

"Ireland's keeper Given has not let in a goal in his last six games and we have to get past him tonight."

"A pharmacy for Trapattoni" is their lead item on the Ireland side.

"Ireland came to Moscow missing some of their main players and their manager Trapattoni needs all of his medical staff to work hard.

"There will be no visits to the place of danger for our boys," says Sport Express newspaper, which also quotes Russian striker Alexander Kerzhakov as saying "if we work hard we'll have no problems."

"The day has come -- we have to finish off our job" is what Russian midfielder Roman Shirokov told Sport Express.

"The match against the Irish will decide the group says Advocaat" is today's headline in the tabloid Tvoi Dyen (Your Day), which gave its main story over to the claim that the insanely rich Russian club Anzku Makhachkala, which recently signed Cameroon star Samuel Eto'o on a €250,000 a week contract, was lining up former Russia coach Guus Hiddink as its new coach.

"We will do what's necessary for Russia" says Moskovskie Novosti.
