Russia is top buyer

IRISH exports to Russia are the most significant in terms of volume of any of the export markets, economist Constantin Gurdgiev, right, said.

Mr Gurdgiev, chair of the Ireland-Russia Business Assocation, said medical devices and pharmaceuticals make up only 12pc of total goods exports to Russia, compared with 50pc of the total going to other markets. "One-tenth of exports to Russia are of meat and meat preparation products -- a significant proportion -- and 8pc of the total is coffee/tea/chocolate."
