Roz proves to be one tough model as she swaps glamour for obstacle course
TOP model Roz Purcell need not have worried about her tan over the weekend, after she was covered from head to toe in mud during a gruelling obstacle course.
The model was one of the thousands who completed the Tough Mudder event - the much-anticipated 12-mile obstacle course, which took place at the Loughcrew Adventure Centre, in Co Meath.
The event has become a prime challenge for fitness fanatics around the world, incorporating running, wading though swamps, crawling through tunnels and even a plunge into ice baths.
Roz (24) later shared a photo on Instagram of herself covered in mud, and quipped: "Tan sorted for tonight."
The model also posted a photo of her pre-race meal, which consisted of tasty pancakes covered with bananas and berries.
"That will surely get me through it ... right?" she asked.
It's no surprise that she would know about nutrition, because the former Miss Universe Ireland has become well-known for her food blog and cooking pursuits, as well as her modelling skills.
Her pancakes seem to have done the trick, because Roz was still smiling as she got on with completing the gruelling course.
Afterwards she revealed on Twitter that participating in the event as part of a team was "good craic".
Organisers say Tough Mudder is a team-oriented obstacle course designed to test physical strength and mental grit.
Over a million people have taken part in similar events worldwide.
A total of 5,000 participants took part in the debut Irish Tough Mudder last year.
This year's event was set very near one of Ireland's and the world's oldest cemeteries, the Loughcrew Cairns.
The course was packed with plenty of variety - thick mud, rolling hills, deep woods and loads of obstacles - but super-fit Roz showed that she was well up for the challenge.
Earlier this year she took part in The Great Ireland Run alongside thousands of athletes in Phoenix Park.
Her love of sport and fitness is well known, and the Tipperary native excelled at tennis and GAA while she was at school.
She is also an accomplished cyclist.
