The nominees for the Meteor Choice Music Prize Song of the Year have been announced, and the list includes a mix of both rising and established stars.

The Riptide Movement are in the running for their hit song It All Works Out and admit they were shocked to get the nod.

Amy Huberman starred in the music video and the band are working on building their profile abroad.

"It's an honour to be nominated. We have been fans of this for years and we forgot that the nominations were about to be announced," they told the Herald.

"Then we got a text from our label saying 'Congrats on the nomination'.

"We are releasing our single in the UK - we're based there - and that's what we are concentrating now."

The 10 songs now go to a public vote to decide the winner, with voting closing at midnight on March 1.

The other nominees are The Coronas with All The Others, Show Me Love by the Delorentos, Hozier's From Eden, One Day from Kodaline's new album Wake Up by Kormac, It's Still Love from Little Hours, The Minutes' latest track Cherry Bomb, Sinead O'Connor's Take Me To Church and The Script's Superheroes.

This year's winner will be revealed at the 10th Meteor Choice Music Prize Live Event at Vicar Street on Thursday, March 5.

The winner will receive a trophy and a prize fund of €3,000.
