DUBLIN'S best-known Grafton Street retailers have called an emergency meeting over rent reviews, warning that thousands of jobs are at risk.

Research from Retail Excellence Ireland has shown that rents have fallen by just 4pc in the past two years, even though sales have dropped by 30pc.

Retailers said commercial landlords have not reduced retail rents "to even close to" market rates.

Representatives from Bewley's Cafes, Butlers Chocolates, Rocks Jewellers, Insomnia, and Hickeys Pharmacies all discussed how business on Grafton Street has been decimated since the recession and the Government, despite its pledge, has failed to honour commitments which would greatly support retailers.
