A NEW professional organisation aims to increase the number of spin-out firms created in Irish higher education institutions (HEIs).

The Irish Technology Transfer and Innovation Group (ITTIG), made up of the seven national universities along with DIT, WIT and RCSI, wants to raise the number of technology licence agreements between the HEIs and industry partners -- as has been done in the US and Europe.

In partnership with Enterprise Ireland (EI), the body will take research from initial concept to the marketplace, either through a spin-out firm or licensing technology to existing companies.
