NIALL and Gillian Quinn have taken their luxurious Co Kildare home off the market.

The couple decided to sell their Longstone Rath mansion last April because they wanted to downsize.

The six-bedroomed property was brought to the market by estate agents Sherry FitzGerald with a price tag of €2.5m.

However, it is no longer up for grabs, the Herald can reveal.

The decade-old home which covers 5,000sq ft and sits on 33 acres was designed with the family's love of horses in mind. On-site are 10 horse boxes, an all-weather arena and a riding trail.

There is also an astro pitch for playing football which can be used for tennis too.

The property is about four miles outside of Naas and is only a 30-minute drive from Dublin.

Footballer turned businessman Niall said recently that he was staying out of house-hunting as that was his model wife's area of expertise.

"We haven't sold it yet but it's okay because we haven't found anywhere new yet," the former Ireland international said at the time.

Gillian, who is studying psychology, said the huge house was too big for the family's needs now that their two children, Mikey and Ash, are young adults.

UCD student Ash models part-time and is on the books of the Andrea Roche agency.

Following in her mother's footsteps, the dark-haired beauty has her pick of jobs when she can fit them around her college and travel schedule.

Niall's work commitments in the UK with Sky Sports mean he travels often. His internet company, Q Sat, has also taken off in recent years after a bit of a shaky start.

While the mansion is an easy drive from Dublin Airport, making it convenient for jetting back and forth between Ireland and Britain, it had begun to feel just too big for the four of them, according to Gillian.
