Pub's tent plan for GAA fans hits hurdle

PLANS by a popular Dublin pub to provide GAA fans with an open-air drinking area have been stalled.

The Louis Fitzgerald-owned Big Tree, on Dorset Street, had wanted to erect a marquee "to alleviate congestion in the existing licensed premises".

The facility would have been put up on "six specified dates in each year coinciding with major sports events at Croke Park", according to a planning application with Dublin City Council. There would have been no additional bars within the marquee.

However, the local authority ruled the application, which was made by Brantive Ltd, was invalid. If the proposal is to proceed, Brantive will have to lodge a new application.
