Profits treble at Irish Amazon

THE IRISH arm of retailing giant Amazon recorded a threefold increase in profits to €3.8m as revenues more than doubled to €112.6m.

The online book and music store recorded a 250pc increase in pre-tax profits from €1.26m to €3.8m throughout 2011 according to accounts filed by Amazon Data Services Ireland Ltd (ADSIL) at the Companies Registration Office.

The world's biggest online retailer operates seven data hub facilities in Dublin supporting Amazon group websites.

The Cork-based Amazon CS Ireland Ltd (ACSIL) and another amazon.com Irish subsidiary employed 657 at the end of December.
