Profits down for store

Fallon and Byrne, the upmarket food hall, restaurant and wine cellar, recorded a 30pc fall in pretax profits in latest accounts filed.

Accounts outline that the company has cause to remain optimistic as sales were slightly ahead of the year before. Turnover rose to €11.2m in the financial year, marginally higher than the €11m posted the previous year.

Fallon and Byrne, which opened in 2006, reported that gross profits were up slightly from €5.6m to €5.8m. It is owned by former journalist Fiona McHugh and her husband Paul Byrne, a former property developer.
