Profit fall for Gilead

PRE-TAX profits at the Irish arm of pharma giant Gilead fell 70pc to $16.5m (€12.6m) last year.

Gilead Science Ltd in Carrigtwohill, Co Cork, experienced a drop from $55.1m (¤42m) despite sales rising to $2.9bn (€2.2bn).

Gilead, the largest maker of HIV/AIDS drugs in the world, employs 230 people in Ireland.
